Seeking The Condor has the breeding to be a brilliant miler, and with all his class, will go even further than that. And with a family full of champions, how could you disagree?
El Condor Pasa, the sire of Seeking The Condor, has been described as the best Japanese racehorse of the 20th century. After winning the Japan Cup and NHK Mile Cup, El Condor Pasa was named Champion Three year old, and the next year, despite never racing in Japan, was named both Horse of the Year and Champion Older Horse based on his strong efforts in France. Rated the top horse to ever race in Japan in the 20th century by Timeform, El Condor Pasa retired to stud where he sired only three crops before his untimely demise. In those crops were several major winners including Vermilion (Japan Cup Dirt, February Stakes), Song of Wind (Kikuka Shō) and Alondite (Japan Cup Dirt). El Condor Pasa was by Kingmambo, a multiple G1 winner of some of Europe's top mile races, the St James Palace Stakes and the Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2000 Guineas). Kingmambo was out of the great mare Miesque, a two time winner of the Breeders Cup Mile, and Hall of Fame earner of 10 G1 races.
The dam of Seeking The Condor is Seeking The Pearl, who was a classy filly in her own right. Seeking The Pearl was also the winner of the NHK Mile Cup, and at four was the Champion Older Mare in France. At stud, she produces a half brother to Seeking The Condor named Seeking The Dia, Though he accumulated earnings of over $1 million on the turf, it was his switch to dirt in his 4-year-old season where Seeking the Dia found his championship form. Throughout his career, Seeking the Dia won or placed in 15 group events, 10 of which were group Is, including consecutive runner-up efforts in the 2005 and 2006 Japan Cup Dirt (Jpn-I). He scored in races ranging from seven furlongs to 1 1/4 miles on dirt and turf. At season's end, he was co-Highweight Older Male Dirt Horse in Japan.
