Tokai Tomachi, Japanese for "Urban and Town", is descended from the rarest of the three foundation Thoroughbred stallions, the Byerley Turk. This makes Tokai Tomachi a unique commodity in any stud barn! Tommy is a champion in photo shows, and is now ready to show off in what he was bred to do -- race, and based on his pedigree, he shouldn't have to much trouble finding success there.
The sire of Tokai Tomachi is Tokai Teio, one of Japan's finest racehorses. Tokai Teio was the winner of nine of his twelve races, including the Japan Cup, Arima Kinen, and both the Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2000 Guineas) and Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby), all some of the most prestigious races in Japan. Tokai Teio took home three championship awards for that season, and at five was given a Special Award. Two years after his retirement, Tokai Teio was inducted into the Japanese Hall Of Fame. At stud, Tokai Teio sired two champions, three Group 1 winners, and and multiple blacktype winners.
Tokai Tomachi is out of the unraced mare Poppy Blossom. Poppy Blossom was a daughter of Breeders Cup Classic winner Arcangues, and out of Miyama Poppy. She was a millionaire, and won three races from 14 starts, including the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Commemorative Cup. Her sire was Kaburaya O, who had won the Tokyo Yushun during his racing days.
